This is the story of our trip to France in May of 2015.  It was part of a round the world trip that also included London
and the USA (New York, Niagara Falls, Canyon Country and the Tall Trees)

This is Day 1 of our trip to France - Arrival Day.

Free Time.

Day-1 Day-2 Day-3   Day-4   Day-5  Day-6
Day -1 Arrival in Paris      Day-1 Arrival
We arrived at the airport (Charles De Gaulle) just after lunch via a long flight from Dubai and an even longer flight from Australia.  A great city tour was had as we wound our way around Paris thanks to our shuttle bus dropping off everyone before us, thus we arrived at our hotel around 4:30 PM.  Booking in was easy.  To ensure we stayed awake until the proper time in Paris we went out for a walk with the initial goal of finding where our tour would start the next morning (day 2) as we were told it was nearby; then we wanted to explore as much of Paris as we could.  Armed with a tourist map we ambled off.

The first highlight were the  Tuileries Garden, a 17th-century formal garden then on to our goal, the Joan of Arch Statue and the Tour Office.  At the tour office we confirmed our seats on the bus and headed off again.  Passing a number of statues and the  Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, skirting the Louvre.
Crossing the Seine River via the Pont Royal past the Museum D'Orsay and back across the Seine via the Foot Bridge Léopold-Sédar-Senghor which in European tradition is covered in "Love" locks. This led us via the other end of the Tuileries Garden to the Place de la Concorde.  The Place de la Concorde is a very large public square, with fountains, statues and an Egyptian obelisk.  From here the Eiffel Tower was first noticed.
Continuing along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées we glimpsed the Arch of Triumph of the Star which is one of the most famous monuments in Paris before turning for home.  Crossing the Seine River again via the ornate Pont Alexandre III (Bridge)  then again through the Place de la Concorde to our Hotel.
