Habitat
No doubt you have noted from the photos above this orchid is located in a cemetery.  Recent works have allocated areas for the native grasslands to be preserved and others areas for pathways and gravesites.  A burn of the grasslands area was done 2 years ago and it's interesting to see the difference in mowed vs. burnt areas - diversity in one only.  However orchids are also found in the pathways as well and these will be chopped quite soon I'm sure - Remembrance Day is coming.  Weeds are probably the major concern here.
We met a local man, some 82 years old and he has been on the Cemetery board and the local Fire Brigade for years as well as being a local historian. He was interested to see this orchid that he had 'cared for' over time; he seemed not to have seen it before.  We had a long and very interesting chat about the site.  He was also happy about signs being placed to tell people about the site's importance as he had often been chided about its apparent 'poor' upkeep.
