An endangered species growing in subalpine
plain locations. Here we see the effects of feral horses which help
to keep the vegetation quite short. Cattle are also allowed to graze
this area in the summer months, around one month after plants flower.
A small area where the orchids are most concentrated is proposed to be
fenced in the near future. This year the area was hit with unseasonal frosts which had a detrimental effect on orchid flowering a few days before our visit. |
