Karijini National Park Kalamina Gorge Walk |
Notes: We found this to be a beautiful gorge. The gorge is some 20 kilometres from our camp at the Karijini Eco Retreat. To get there you travel on a rough corrugated dirt road, not difficult to drive, just annoying. Parking at the car park we headed immediately to start the walk. There is a reasonable track via rough steps down to the gorge floor. We turned right and checked out a lovely waterfall cascading through a small amphitheatre; the grandkids loved this area. Due to water levels it took a little bit of ledge sliding to get close to the bottom of the waterfall. Moving on we started down the gorge till we arrived at the Rock Arch Pool, some 1.5 kilometre further on. This section of the walk was glorious, and quite easy to walk. You walk along flat rock beds with nature made steps along the way. At the Rock Arch we turned around and headed back the way we came. |
