Geikie Gorge Tour

Notes:
This tour up the Fitzroy River starts from the Geikie Gorge visitors centre. The visitors centre is some 20km North East of the town of Fitzroy River. When you arrive you quickly notice the flood lines drawn around the the centre and you wonder how much water flows through here in the wet season and realise this really is for the dry season only. The cruise takes around an hour with the guide talking about the history of the gorge and the bird and annimal life that abounds in the area, taking particular notice of what he can see as you travel up and down the gorge. You travel up and then back down the river so each side of the boat gets to see similar things, although the wildlife often moves on in between passes.

The guide makes the trip interesting and worthwhile.
