Broome - Whale Watching |
Notes: The World's largest pod of Humpback Whales, estimated at up to 40,000 mate and give birth in the Indian Ocean around Broome. There is no better place for whale watching, so the brochure told us. As we were in Broome we decided perhaps we should take one of these magical tours. We chose a morning tour which meant an early start to the day. We were soon at the beach ready to be transported out to our yacht. Our transport was an amazing small boat which was equipped with wheels for driving upon the sand. Once on the yacht we were quickly away and soon spotted some whale activity in the distance. Our boat headed that way and soon we were in close proximity to some whales. I say close as you are not allowed to approach within 100m side on and 300m back and front, but if they come to you that's a different matter. Drinks and snacks were passed around during the tour. When the tour finished we headed back to land and again got to shore in that remarkable amphibious boat. A good trip out with loads of whales and some good photos as well. |
