Bungalow Spur Tracks:
Mt Hotham to Harrietville via Mt. Feathertop |

Notes: We were at Dinner Plain which is just up the road from the Mt Hotham Resort area and a bit further on again is the start to the Razorback Walk. This is a good one day walk in good conditions and often is completed from the Mt Hotham end to Harrietville as it is in the general sense all downhill. There is a elevation difference of some 1200m between the start and finish lines, but that's not to say there are not some good uphill sections, such as the climb up to the top of Mt Feathertop. We arrived at Dinner Plain during one of the first snow flurries of the year, which dropped some 10 cm of snow around our cabin. We had the feeling this walk might not happen! The next day was cold and wet which meant the snow was washed away. The next day however was just what was needed - beautiful blue skies with almost no haze about and the forecast was for this to be a good day for the walk. Mischa and Luca started the walk around 8:00 AM and completed it by 4:20 PM. One good thing was that both groups had mobile signal seemingly for the whole walk and we exchanged photos via our mobile phones throughout the day. Susan and I walked to the top of Mt Hotham from the Mt Hotham Resort and then drove to Harrietville to pick up Mischa and Luca at the end of their walk. |
