Signal Peak Walk
Grampians Peaks Trail

Back

Since the Grampians Peaks Trail walk was opened we wanted to do the Signal Peak section as this is one of the peaks we have not climbed as there was not trail to the top as far as we knew.
Getting on now we decided to start the walk from Cassidy Gap Rd.  It looked shorter and a tad less climb at 400m.
The initial path is reasonably flat till you start to climb in earnest and the the steps start.  I hate steps! I admire the parks people who made the steps as they are constructed from solid rock.  The views along the track are great and so are the views at the top.
We took at lot longer than the 1.5 hours stated on the walks sign, but we are getting on a bit these days.

Overall a great walk!

Start of walk on Cassidy Gap Rd.  They say 1.5 hours and 2.5km .... not for us! Boot cleaning station that works!
Easy start, reasonably flat track at the start
Views to the north appear soon enough
Steps!  All the way to near the top!
Views are worth the pain of steps.

  Orchids - a Bonus!
    Rock overhang - interesting weathering!

Pardalote nest - we saw it fly off.

Nearing the turn to the top.  Amazing views.

  Yellow worm - interesting.

Turn off to the top. Someone said this was an easy loop - not for me.
Parks asking me to be careful.
Mt Abrupt!
Back on the track again.  Down hill from here.
    Time to see the wildflowers.

More interesting on the way down.

Finished - 8 hours of great fun! but quite tired. Back to the car and a short drive to our caravan! And a hot coffee.
