Carlon's Farm - Cox's River 7 Day Walk |
Notes: Here is the plan: Day 1 - Park the car at the end of the road at
Carlon’s Farm (also known as Green Gully).
There is a road to the right of the main walkers car park that
leads to a farm. We park in
front of the farm where there is a stile at the start of the walk.
We will walk back to the hikers car park and then follow the “Carlon
Creek” track to Breakfast Creek.
At Breakfast creek we will walk downstream for 1km or so to Frying
Pan Flat - our campsite on Breakfast creek.
The walk should be about 5kms. Day 2 - walk back upstream about 1km to the
Blackhorse ridge track. Follow
this track up the ridge until the junction with the Medlow Gap/Mobbs Swamp
track. Turn right and follow
the track to Mobbs Swamp, our campsite.
I think the walk is about 6kms. Day 3 - continue along yesterdays track down to
Cox’s River, past Mt Yellow Dog, down the Yellow Pup ridge.
Cross the Cox’s River and walk upstream for a short while, maybe
300ms, to arrive at the junction with Kanangra Creek, and our campsite. Day 4 - rest day at Kanangra Creek. Day 5 - walk up along the Cox’s River for about
6kms. There are campsites
along the river, we are hoping to camp near where Merrigal Creek flows
into the Cox’s. Day 6 - continue walking up the Cox’s River until
where Breakfast Creek flows into the river - our campsite is there. Day 7 - walk up to Ironpot mountain via Ironmonger
Spur, then walk along Ironpot Ridge back to our car.
Drive to Mittagong.
