Globus:
Today's journey continues alongside some of Wyoming's most beautiful mountain ranges into Utah, home to five national parks. Arrive in Salt Lake City, founded by Brigham Young in 1847. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the capital city and its historic monuments before dinner tonight at historic Temple Square. (B,D)
This was another travel day for us.  We set off as usual and stopped for a break at Afton.  Amazingly we stopped outside a small cake shop that was somehow expecting us, and yes their cakes were delicious.  Outside we saw the 'famous' Elkhorn Arch, the worlds largest, some friendly bears and a new attraction had just opened - the bank that the famous Butch Cassidy robbed.  We wandered about and finally entered a clothing shop where I bought a souvenir shirt and Mischa a scarf, some useful things for home.   We stopped for lunch at Montpelier.  Its an interesting feature of these "remote" towns that in the early part of the 20th Century, a big letter was placed on a prominent place to help airmail pilots know where they were and so could drop the mail off.  From here we stopped off at the Bear Lakes Valley Visitors Centre where we were entertained by the local hummingbirds feeding.  From here we went on to the Utah Capitol Building, Salt Lake City to see the building and the Mormon Battalion Monument located on the grounds.  Off to the hotel and out again for a dinner at the Mormon Headquarters where we enjoyed a great smorgasbord and tour of Mormon attractions.
