Day -9       Day-2
04-June-2015
Globus:
Full day at leisure to enjoy this spectacular playground. Perhaps choose an optional float trip along the Snake River (viewing of wild animals advertised) or stroll along the downtown boardwalks and enjoy a drink at one of the swing-door saloons. (B)
We  chose to do our own thing today and so we headed off via the local bus to Teton Village and took the aerial tram to the top of Rendezvous Mountain.  The tram was very large, stable and quite quick to reach the top.  This marked the highest point we had ever been at, 10,450 ft. This is 3,000 ft. above Australia's highest mountain.  It offered us great views.  Back to the bottom again we tried to find the walking trails but the local maps were lacking detail and the slopes were undergoing a large revamp for winter.  So after an hour's walking we finally found the trail we wanted.  We soon found orchids and had great delight in photographing them.  But it started raining which turned to hail for a short time.  Fortunately we had our umbrellas and we also took shelter under some small trees.  We retraced our steps and saw a shortcut to a street heading down the hill, this took us past many interesting mansions.  Finally, reaching the bus stop, we sat down and waited for our bus to come to take us home again.  Walking back to our hotel we saw a number of native animals and birds out at play along the main street.  Overall a good day out!
