Day - 7       Day-2
02-June-2015
Globus:
Spend the day exploring Yellowstone. Travel along Grand Loop Road to Fountain Paint Pots to see the bubbling mud. Continue on to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone for magnificent views of Yellowstone Canyon and the spectacular Lower Falls - almost twice as high as Niagara Falls! Next, stop at Mammoth Hot Springs and take a short trail walk among the steaming limestone terraces.
We  went for a quick walk down Beaver Trail in the morning prior to our departure from the hotel. The walk took us past the thermal spring and on to the hill above our hotel where we had scenic views. The trail was poorly marked so we retraced our steps as we did have time for any track errors.  On the bus again we headed south and soon came across many cars parked beside the road.  It was obvious that something was happening and we soon spotted Black Bears up the hill.  The bus stopped as soon as it could and the whole bus flooded out back to the sighting.  They bears  were quite a way up the hill, but still able to be captured with our long lens.  But we had to leave as buses should not stop along this road.  We stopped at the Yellowstone Canyon's spectacular Lower Falls, but the path leading to the look-out was closed so we had to settle for the rapids flowing under the nearby bridge. Further along at an even greater distance away we saw some Grisly bears but this time we only slowed and did not stop.  Lunch was in West Yellowstone, just outside the park.  Our next stop was at the Fountain Pot Nature Trail and then onto the Old Faithful Inn.  As access to our room was delayed we watched the next eruption of Old Faithfull which luckily was only a few minutes way.  Stowing our gear we went for a walk up the track to Observation Point where we were in time to see Old Faithful erupt again.  As it does every 91 minutes or so.
