To us
this was basically another traveling day. We said goodbye to the
dinosaurs which we could see up on the hill. A short drive took us to
the Tatanka Center to learn about the native American Indian and also
the bison. This was a great session as we heard from a true
native, their own story and that of the bison. The sculptures were
indeed large and impressive. We then headed into town via an old
school bus, with an amazing driver who told many a tale about Deadwood.
Deadwood itself is an interesting town, full of history, casinos,
cafes and bars. After lunch we headed on again to Sheridan.
As it was still early we went for a walk along a stream that was flowing
behind the hotel, called the Big Goose Creek. We walked along the
path and on past a couple of ponds, which was actually the Sheridan
Heights Reservoir. Here we thought we saw some beavers. It was
turning dark as a very grey cloud was heading our way so we turned for
home and just beat the storm to our hotel.
