Day - 1
Day-2 27-May-2015 |
Globus: Welcome to Denver. Explore the "Mile High City" on your own. Free Day. |
We
arrived just after lunch at Denver airport and grabbed a quick bite
before finding out if our hotel transfer was still valid seeing we were
one day late. After running around for quite awhile we finally
found the transfer kiosk and were soon off to the bus stop. An
hour later, after our usual downtown tour we arrived at our hotel.
A coffee later we were on our way out to do some sightseeing. We took a very full free bus ride down to near the Amtrak Station. After a quick look around we headed along the Cherry Creek Trail, a path beside the Cherry Creek, this to me was a river and it was flowing very strongly. We turned towards 16th Street and passed the famed public sculpture - "The Dancers" by Jonathan Borofsky. Then on past the "Giant Blue Bear" Sculpture by Lawrence Argent at the Convention Center. The Hard Rock cafe was on our route an we passed through the city center as we found the Denver Capitol Building. Just before you enter the main doors of the Capitol Building one level of the stairs is marked with a inscription indicating this step is one mile high (above sea level). From here we went to the Civic Central Park and the Voorhies Memorial, then on back to our Hotel.. just before it rained...hard! |
