Purnululu National PArk
Homestead Valley Walk

Back

Notes:

Day 3 saw us heading out of Purnululu National Park but not before one last walk.  We were leaving in the morning as we were told most visitors arrive early afternoon and thus there is little approaching traffic in the morning.  We packed up and drove to the Bloodwoods carpark and headed off along the path.  This time we ignored the track to the Bloodwood lookout and instead took the right hand turn to the Homestead Valley walk.  This was an easy walk until we got to the dreaded creek walk section, big rocks and slippery stones make for a hard slog.  Heading higher up the valley we left the creek bed and made quicker pogress on a dirt track up into the valley.  We arrived at a shaded seating area at the end of the valley, sorrounded by tall cliffs.  This I gathered was the site of the old homestead.  We relaxed for a while and headed back down again to our 4wd and headed out of the park.  When pumping up our tyres again to start driving on the bitumen, my air compressor blew a fuse or three.  I asked a young German backpaker for a lend of his el-cheapo air pump which worked fine.  It seems my spare fuses were way too small for the job and when we hit Kununurra I bought a much larger fuse.  My pump worked much better the next trime I needed it!
